Panic & Plan vs. Stand Still & Wait


Everything can change for the better in a day, an hour, an instance. (TWEET this.)

 And yet so often I am so consumed with the conflict staring me in the face that I can’t think about the next thirty seconds let alone the next day. Surely I’m not alone in that response?

 FACED WITH CONFLICT

 Have you ever been staring conflict in the face? It’s hard to stop thinking about it, isn’t it? If you’re personality is like mine, it’s hard to stop trying to solve the problem immediately.

 As a matter of fact, I like to a have a slight panic attack in private and then fully attack the panic with a plan. 

 I can’t stand to ignore a problem. As a matter of fact, sometimes I look for problems just so I have something to solve.

 That’s why I had to stop and think when I was reading Exodus earlier this week.

 How many times when we panic are we supposed to stand still and let the Lord fight for us? Do we go charging into battle without being ready?

 God had told Moses ahead of time what bad things were coming. He also told Him he planned it in order to show His glory. Nothing that was about to happen was going to take God by surprise. 

 STAND STILL AND WATCH
But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Exodus 14:13-14 NLT

Stand still and watch. Stay calm. 

 Yeah, that’s not my normal response to conflict. Is it yours?

 BE BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS
Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 NLT

I am a survivor. I am a warrior. I don’t typically shrink back from a battle. 

 However, sometimes I go rushing in ahead of the Lord. 
We can demonstrate bravery and courage by waiting patiently. (TWEET this.)

 Waiting isn’t always an easy thing to do. Especially for those of us who just want things fixed now. But God has planned to demonstrate His glory when He rescues us. 

 I don’t know about you, but I think I might be willing to give up my panic for the opportunity to see His glory!

 So, while I’m waiting I’ll just keep on serving and leave the rescue to Him.

    Patience is king, sometimes I just surrender the situation and trust it will work out when it is meant to work out. I try not to press for a solution when it is not obvious what that solution should be.
